Music Fans’ Voice is inviting people to take 15 minutes to complete a survey that could help shape the future of live music in the UK.

With grassroots venues and nightlife struggling, this survey gives fans a voice on key issues like dynamic ticket pricing, grassroots venues, and touting – which costs music lovers an estimated £145 million annually. While the government is cracking down on ticket resales, more action is needed to protect live music and nightlife in the UK.

Kezia Coleman, Kingston and Surbiton Labour Party Chair, highlighted the importance of live music is for our area:
“Kingston has lost many much-loved and iconic venues, such as The Peel and several clubs, but our live music scene remains something to be proud of. It brings communities together and supports jobs in the hospitality and night-time economy. Having worked in Kingston’s nightlife and hospitality sector for a number years, I know how important these jobs, and the trade night time economy brings for our area.”

This survey offers a data-driven seat at the table, ensuring fan input informs decisions at government and industry levels. It’s a crucial step in protecting venues, improving audience experiences, and securing the future of live music.

The survey is commissioned by major city councils and combined authorities, including Greater Manchester, London, Liverpool, the West Midlands, Tees Valley, Cardiff, Belfast, and Glasgow.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan: “Our live music industry is world renowned, with an incredible diversity of artists performing in venues of all sizes every night of the year. The industry plays a key role in driving our economy, but we know that Grassroots Venues continue to face significant challenges. I’m committed to working in partnership to support these vital venues and the first ever UK-wide Music Fan survey is a fantastic opportunity for those who love live music to have their voices heard – helping us to continue building a better London for everyone.”
