Kezia Coleman for Hook and Chessington North

“I moved to Kingston to attend university in 2008 and fell in love with the area, for it’s vibrant culture offer, and community minded spirit. I have worked in the voluntary sector for several years. Practically in the area of disability. I am now raising my daughter here.
We enjoy spending time in Hook and Chessington North, in the local parks, soft play, and Hook Library.

As a mother who raised a toddler during a lockdown while starting a new job, growing up as a young carer, and living through economic instability and austerity, I understand the issues impacting local people because they impact me too.

Our society has stripped many of us of the village we need to raise children, look after relatives, or even just maintain our well-being. Many people are working multiple jobs to afford housing, bills, and basic necessities. The systems around us are failing.

A Labour government is determined to stabilise the economy, invent in our country so that we can start to live again and access the support we need. We all deserve to enjoy life.

I have campaigned to protect children’s centres, address sewage pollution in the Hogsmill River, and I set up a warm space café over the winter, when many were struggling with energy bills and the cost of living.

Nationally, I have been involved in campaigning for affordable childcare. As your local Labour representative, I would bring a fresh and much-needed voice to the council. In Kingston, Labour has bold ideas for growing our local economy, addressing the housing crisis, and providing the very best for residents.

I am standing to be your local Labour councillor so I can work alongside a Labour government to work for the very best services for residents, and a safe and thriving local community.”

Labour in Kingston will:

1. Champion policies that promote local economic growth, entrepreneurship, and job creation to ensure a strong and sustainable local economy that benefits all residents.

2. Advocate for accessible and quality essential services such as healthcare, education, and social support systems to support people and families.

3. Enhance and maintain public spaces to ensure they are clean, safe, and welcoming for all residents to enjoy, promoting community engagement and well-being.

4. Commit to addressing the housing crisis by advocating for the development of high-quality, affordable housing options and social housing initiatives to ensure all residents have access to safe and stable housing.

5. Take proactive measures to reduce crime and improve safety in the community through collaboration with local police, prioritising prevention strategies to create safer streets for all residents.

It’s between Labour and the Liberal Democrats in Kingston and Surbiton.
Labour has a history of councillors in Kingston. In May 2022, Kezia Coleman came second
to the Liberal Democrats in the local elections with the Conservatives a poor third.
On 4 July, vote Labour for a fresh voice on Kingston Council.
